Probate Bond Procedure – Online

  1. Fill out application Probate Bond Application – Online Fillable
  2. Once you complete the application hit submit
  3. A copy of your application will be delivered to our bond department and a copy will be emailed to you for your records.
  4. We will confirm receipt and, after a brief review and credit check, we will approve or let you know if any additional information is needed.

MA Probate Bond Rates

  • First $2,000 @ $10.00 per thousand
  • Next $48,000 @ $5.00 per thousand
  • Next $150,000 @ $4.00 per thousand
  • Next $300,000 @ $3.00 per thousand
  • Next $500,000 @ $2.00 per thousand
  • Next $1,000,000 @ $1.00 per thousand

Probate Bond Underwriting Guidelines

Bond Amount – Varies

Underwriting Classes

  • Class 2 – A signed application, including business and personal indemnity, is needed
  • Class 3 – A signed application, including business and personal indemnity, a clean credit report, and business and personal financial statements are needed

Bond Form – Court Officer Bond for Administrators, Executors, and Personal Representatives

Bond Description – Probate – Administrators, Executor, Executor to Sell Real Estate, Personal Representative

Term – 1 year, with annual renewals

Agent Authority – Tonry has authority up to $200,000, for qualified individuals, provided there is an actively involved attorney assisting the principal and no-one is disputing the appointment. A completed and signed application, including the Probate section on page two is required. Larger bonds are available but require a personal financial statement, credit report and must submitted for approval. 

Renewal Action – $50,000 and less are written for a term premium and no renewals will be sent. Bonds over $50,000 will renew annually
