The Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance has approved a Stipulation for the general revision of workers' compensation rates, effective 12:01 A.M., July 1, 2018 that generates an overall average decrease of 12.9% for Massachusetts workers’ compensation rates.

Effective October 21, 2017, customers will be eligible to renew their licenses or ID cards online for two consecutive renewal periods. This will result in approximately 30,000 additional renewal transactions eligible to be processed online each month. Fewer in-person customers will make it easier for the RMV team to attend ATLAS training and prepare for the March 26, 2018 ATLAS rollout. This will also allow customers to keep their current photo images for five additional years.

The stipulation includes an overall average increase of 1.5% in the existing workers’ compensation average rates and will vary by class. Rating values in the Experience Rating Plan and the Retrospective Rating Plan will be revised, as well as premium credits in the Massachusetts Benefits Deductible Program and Massachusetts Benefits Claim and Aggregate Deductible Program.
Former president of Albert J. Tonry & Co., Inc., Louis A. Tonry, Sr. (1925 - 2016), passed away peacefully Saturday morning April 2, 2016 with family at his side. Mr. Tonry joined the insurance agency started by his father, Albert J. Tonry, after serving as a Naval Aviator in World War II and graduating from Bowdoin College. He was the father of current agency president and co-owner Lou Tonry Jr. and step-father of treasurer and co-owner Carl Traina.

MassDOT Secretary and CEO Stephanie Pollack announced changes to the fine structure to the all-electronic, Pay-By-Plate, toll collection system on the Tobin Bridge. Additionally, Secretary Pollack also announced a 30-day amnesty program that starts Monday, June 1, where drivers can simply pay the amount of outstanding tolls and will have all late payment fines waived.. Both the new fine structure and the 30-day toll amnesty apply exclusively to the Tobin Bridge.
